I only got to shoot sunset once on my last visit to Hawaii's Big Island... Let me rephrase that: I only got to use my camera on subjects other than humans once! This shot was on the Kona side and near a popular beach so I walked south until there were no people around and I setup on this old lava entry. Although there is no dramatic lava exploding into the ocean I did get the sunset I have been dying to see... I really wish I had more time to set off and photograph this beautiful island but it was Thanksgiving and there was also a fire that prohibited passage from the West to the East. So I never got to catch up with my friends on the Hilo side and I never got to hit up some of the other great spots to photograph... But, I did have an awesome time relaxing and enjoying my time in a tropical paradise with my family... I also ate a lot of killer sushi and had plenty of coconut lattes! Created using two images for dynamic range, once for the sky and one for the rocks. Nikon D800E, 14-24 f/2.8 (@14mm), Processed with Photoshop Lightroom 5 and CS6.
