I had stayed at this hotel many times before but always faced south. This time I was fortunate to face north into downtown and see an amazing storm roll in. It was the first lightning storm I tried to capture with my camera so I had a lot of trial and error. I started with a vertical capture of the lightning at left and since the timing of lightning is unpredictable I set my exposure for 30 seconds and kept hiting the shutter until I captured a bolt. Once I got the lightnng image I then used a level tripod and swung it to capture the next 5 images with about 20% overlap so I could create the panorama. There were a lot of people on their balconies that night enjoying the show safely and I was very lucky to enjoy it with them and capture such an awesome event.
